Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology (AIMST), Malaysia

Asian Institute of Medical, Science and Technology is a non-for-profit private university in Malaysia. The university is known by the acronym  AIMST University. It was established under a foundation called Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED), a not-for-profit organisation.The University was built by Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) to provide tertiary education, particularly to Malaysian Indian students in the medical, science and engineering fields and business management.

AIMST University is registered with the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, under Sections 38 and 39 of the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act of 1996. It formally began operations on 30 October 2001, coinciding with its registration with the Department of Private Education under the Ministry of Higher Education. The university offers more than 32 degree programmes at the foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The AIMST University medical programme is modern and innovative. It is modeled on the clinically integrated curriculum followed by major medical schools in the United Kingdom and also incorporates local requirements stipulated by the Malaysian Medical Council. The 5-year programme is conducted entirely within the State.

A hostel is provided for all students, local and international. These residences are shared by groups of four to twelve students and are within walking distance to the Student Centre that contains shops, a cafeteria and ATM Teller Machine. Service includes meals at the on-campus cafeteria and bus transportation to and from the University than is not sufficient for 80% of the students in campus. AIMST Cafeteria provides catering for staff and students.The cafeteria serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian halal food

The Aimst Indoor Sports Complex provides facilities for basketball, badminton, squash and table tennis; also available are a gymnasium and an outdoor Olympic-sized swimming pool.Occasionally AIMST University hosts regional and international tournaments such as football, hockey and cricket matches.
