Chuvash State University is a classical university in the city of Cheboksary in Chuvash Republic of Russian Federation. Chuvash State University has branches in the cities of Canas and Alatyr, as well as in the Chuvash State University in Batyrevo village of Chuvash Republic. On September 5, 1967 by the Order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR established the Chuvash State University on the basis of the Volga branch of the Moscow energy Institute. The first academic year started with 7 faculties.

In 1968 faculties of Electrical Industry and Electrification were introduced , followed by physics and mathematics departments. In 1980 Chuvash State University opened representative offices in the regions of the Chuvash Republic. In 2012 Chuvash State University received Level IV accreditation. Today chuvash State Univeristy has 115 depatments with 750 members of teaching staff. Till date Chuvash state University has trained around 19000 students.
Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education “Chuvash State University I. N. Ulianov” was established in 1967. It is located in Cheboksary city in Chuvash Republic of the Russian Federation.

In 1967, the Faculty of Medicine started its functioning. The first academic year has started with 7 faculties. For the first time, 50 students have been enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine. Department of General Anatomy with the course of General Biology was the first academic department.

In 1968, the Departments of Biology and Histology were created. The second enrollment of the students has already been around 100 students.

In 1981, Pediatrics Department with reception of 25 students for evening-time education was opened.

In 1985, Dentistry Department with the reception of 50 students was opened. In1995, Nursing Department with full time form of education was opened. Therefore, Medical Faculty of Chuvash State University has been completely formed as a valuable educational institution.

Since 1992 till the present day, foreign students from 37 countries of the world have come to get education at the University. Students are offered to get both undergraduate and postgraduate education in different specializations.

In 1994, the Faculty of Medicine was reorganized into Medical Institute. The Institute prepares high qualified specialists on the following directions: ”Medicine , ”Pediatrics “, ” Dentistry “, “Nursing”.

In 2002, Chuvash State University was included in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities as the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education “Chuvash State University I. N. Ulianov”. By order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education “Chuvash State University I. N. Ulianov” has been renamed to the Federal State-Funded Educational Institution “Chuvash State University”.

In 2012, Chuvash State University received IV Level of accreditation.

Academic staff of Chuvash State University consists of 1100 lecturers, including 140 Doctors of Sciences and Professors, 569 Candidates of Sciences and Associate Professors.

There are 4 main academic buildings with 20 rooms for lectures. Students are offered to have practice at clinics with more than 2500 beds. The material and technical base of the faculty correspond to all modern requirements. What is more, Chuvash Medical Institute has become a major research center of the Russian Federation. Students can widen their knowledge at the library, where they are offered more than 160 000 of books.

Nowadays, Chuvash State University has 115 departments. From time to time, lecturers from the Institute go at international congresses and symposiums with scientific reports. Till the present time, Chuvash State University has trained about 87426 students, among of them there are 56046 full time students and 435 foreign students from 37 countries of the world.
