Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka

Sir Salimullah Medical College (SSMC) is a highly ranked Medical School of University of Dhaka. It is located in the Capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka. Founded and established as “Dhaka Medical School” in 1875, it beacame Sir Salimullah medical College in1962.It is one of the oldest medical school in the Bangladesh.Its hospital wing Mitford Hospital is the oldest hospital of its kind in Bangladesh.

The campus of Sir Salimullah Medical college is situated at Mitford, Dhaka-100, Bangladesh. It is located in the old part of the capital, Dhaka.It is only about 10 minutes’ drive from Saidabad Bus terminal of Dhaka Metropolitan City.There are eight hostels (dormitories) in this medical college. The main hostel and its extension (male), BDS hostel (male), Alauddin hostel (male), three ladies hostels, Internee hostel (male) and Internee Hostel (female).

The library is situated on the ground floor of new academic building with a large collection of medical books. SSMC has a fast developing special library section with books on educational innovations, educational psychology, instructional techniques, curriculum development, curriculum evaluation etc. Many WHO and other publications on Human Resource Development for Health are also available.  There are more then 150 Jaurnal and more then 23000 Medical book.

There are Eight hostels in this medical college. Main hostel & its extension (male), Alauddin Hostel (male), two Ladies students Hostels, Internee hostel (male) & Internee Hostel (female). Among all these hostels Main Hostel is the center for all cultural & student activities. Alauddin Hostel is situated few blocks away from main campus. All the Hostels have 24 hours electricity & water supply privilege but security & sweeping system is unsatisfactory. All the Hostels have dining facilities & canteens.
