The Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado was created 22 of September of 1962 by Executive Order No. 845, which provided for the establishment of the Experimental Center for Advanced Studies (CEDES) as the core and first stage of UCLA, in the Chair of Betancourt . It starts with three professional schools: Medicine (1963), Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (1964).Several years later the administration was included.
In 1967 it was given the name of University of the Western Central Region (UCO), through Decree No. 89. This decree marks the continuity of the teaching and administrative activities that corresponded to the Experimental Center of Higher Studies (CEDES).
By Presidential Decree No. 55 dated Republic 2 of April of 1979 , the National Executive decided to rename the company under its current name Centroccidental University Lisandro Alvarado .
The Anatomical Museum, cardiovascular evaluation and blood chemistry to the athletes of the UCLA, the programs of the Regional Center of Toxicology, radio program of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, preventive programs of renal affections, organization and promotion of sporting events for handicapped patients, continuing education programs, sensory-motor stimulation education, educational program for allergic patients and their parents, information systems in the health sector, programming of the organization and participation of the community in health care.
The service aims to ensure healthy and balanced nutrition of the community based on a menu made by nutritionists at UCLA. The service includes a lunch and a daily dinner for each student, completely free of charge.
Each deanship consists of its own dining room with the exception of the Deanship of Civil Engineering and Urbanism (DIC), being approved the budget for its construction in repeated opportunities by the National Government.
The cafeterias are based on a self-service system in which the student uses his or her identity card to access the service, through a database of students from the entire university.
