The college of social sciences is a non-state higher education institution, operating since 1994. Established on a private initiative basis as Nijolė Skučienė School of Languages and Business Management, in 2001 she became a high school non-university.
SMK is the largest non-state higher education institution in Lithuania. The College offers a wide range of study programs in the areas of informatics, health, arts, business and public administration, law, and social sciences. SMK is based in Vilnius and Klaipėda, and starting in 2018, it starts operating in Kaunas.
College of Social Sciences conducts first-level college (professional bachelor) studies. In college studies, skills are created that allow them to adapt quickly to changing production and farm conditions and respond accordingly to changes, work in conditions of rapid technological change.
The college conducts studies in 4 fields of study: social sciences, physical sciences, biomedical sciences and arts .
The volume of studies in a college is measured by credits. Study credit is a unit of study subject volume measuring the study results and student’s working time. The volume of one year of continuous education is 1600 hours and corresponds to 60 credits. The amount of one study credit is 27 hours. The volume of the college study program is 180 credits.
The college uses the e-learning environment throughout the study process.
