Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) founded in 1930, is one of the largest and most prestigious higher educational establishments in the country. Azerbaijan Medical University, named after Nariman Narimanov is the formal name of the public medical school located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Due to difficulties with translation, the school is sometimes called: Azerbaijan Medical University, Azerbaijan State Medical University, Azerbaijan State Medical Institute, or simply Medical University, with any of the preceding including the “named after N. During last 10 years 2768 scientific works of the employees of the faculty were published, 467 of them are the handbooks, handbook supplements and other education-methodic works, 1173 are the article of the magazines, 1128 are the thesis, 605 works are published in the scientific summaries of the foreign countries and in conference materials. 16 departments and 1 course act at the II prophylactic treatment faculty. 3 of them are theoretic, 14 are clinic departments. Scientific-researches are carried out at departments on different problems and solutions of problems of medicine along with education. Teaching of basic subjects are carried out at the University’s training base, clinic subjects at therapeutic training clinics, at basic clinics and policlinics and at Scientific-Research Cardiology, Scientific-Research Pediatric, National Prophylactic and Medical Rehabilitation Institute and Scientific Surgical Centre named after Academician M.Topchubashov which are supplied with modern treatment-diagnostics. There are currently 8000 students (including 1171 foreign students) studying at the university. The courses are taught through 74 academic departments by a comprehensive staff of over 1628 trained professionals. On November 27th, 1998 the University got a permission (license) of the Ministry of Press and Information of the Azerbaijan Republic to carry out printing activity. On February 10th, 1999 the University got a permission (license) of the Ministry of Press and Information of the Azerbaijan Republic to print out and distribute the “Scientific and Pedagogical News of Odlar Yurdu University” journal. Higher Attestation Commission under President of Azerbaijan Republic has included this journal in the list of publications recognized by that organization for the publication of scientific articles on the following sciences: Mathematics and Mechanics, Economics, Law (Jurisprudence), History and Politology, Pedagogy, Philology. The faculty has a team of highly-qualified teachers and professors. The library consists of a 200-person reading hall and a book fund. An electronic library, connected to the internet network, programmed at the sites of the influential libraries of the world, has been created at the university, and it has been given to the use of students and the team of professors-teachers. There are more than 93000 printed materials in the scientific-education fund of the library, of which about 15000 are in foreign languages. Besides, in the reading hall, books, textbooks and course materials, written by the team of professors-teachers of the university are collected together and are available for the use of students. The library is supplied with a sufficient number literature, textbooks and course materials on all specialities taught at the university. Odlar Yurdu University conducts an exchange of scientific publications with many university and central libraries of the USA, CIS, Turkey, North Cyprus Turkish Republic, Germany and other foreign countries. The library of Odlar Yurdu University has over 3000 readers. The majority of them is the team of professors-teachers and students, as well as other readers from outside of the university. Lately, 72 textbooks, 126 teaching aids, 457 methodical aids, 320 subject programs have been printed and released for use at the university on all specialities and specialization areas. SSR Medical College, Mauritius

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Medical College (SSRMC), created 1996, is the first medical college of Mauritius, established by the Indian Ocean Medical Institute Trust (IOMIT) in Mauritius in the memory of the ‘father of the nation’, late Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam. Mr. R.P.N. Singh, an educationist and a social planner from India, is the founder Chairman and Managing Trustee of the trust. It was agreed to set up the SSR Medical College affiliated to the University of Mauritius, which would award the graduate and postgraduate degrees. The SSR Medical College is spread over about 30 acres of land provided by the government with buildings covering an area of about 175,000 square feet (16,300 m2) housing the pre-clinical and the para-clinical departments. The Ministry of Health and Quality of life has promised ‘unflinching support’  and provides Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital, Victoria, SSR and other specialty hospitals having more than 2000 beds for the clinical training of the students of the SSR Medical College. Latvijas Universitātes Medicīnas Fakultātē, Latvia

The University of Latvia MF was established on September 28, 1919, for the preparation of doctors, but was dissolved in the Soviet era. The UL MF was renewed on December 29, 1997, but it was officially opened on September 4, 1998. 2008/2009 In the academic year, 851 students, including foreigners, were studying at the UL MF. Each year, the number of students in the faculty has grown steadily, and at present, approximately 200 young students are enrolled in the UL MF. The faculty has a total of 122 teaching staff, of which 3 are the actual members of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, 7 corresponding members, 13 professors, 18 associate professors, 21 associate professors, 6 visiting professors, 5 private docents etc. The LU MF can be studied in the following accredited study programs: the higher professional study program in medicine, bachelor’s and master’s programs in nursing, pharmacy bachelor’s and master’s programs, and a series of doctoral programs. All programs are very up-to-date, based on the latest scientific advances and Scandinavian experience. The study process is democratic and open, it is based on the principle that a student is a student center. In addition to the compulsory study courses, the LU MF offers the widest opportunities within the framework of Part C to study courses that are not directly related to the specialty to be acquired, but will be useful for future professional activities such as foreign languages, psychology, economics and legal subjects. An integral and essential part of the study is practical classes and practice, which begin already in the 3rd year of study. LU MF students practice in Riga’s leading clinics and medical institutions. The Faculty of Medicine was established on 28 September 1919 for the preparation of doctors, the first stage of its operation in the UL lasted until 1950, when it was liquidated in the Soviet times. The University of Latvia MF gave a unique opportunity for the first time in the history of Latvia to receive medical education at a national higher education institution at home. A modern educational and research base was created for the development of medical science disciplines and study subjects. The first faculty faculty staff recruited from Terbatas, also from Moscow, Peterburg, students from other institutions of the former Russian Empire, but in some cases they were invited from Sweden, Austria and even the US universities. The first twenty years involved the formation, stabilization and development of the faculty, and ended with the replacement of the first generation. From the years 1920 to 1950, 2863 graduates graduated from the MF, including 2,208 doctors, 752 dentists and dentists, and 53 chemist’s pharmacists. Of them, later, 37 became professors in Latvia, while 24 were abroad (USA, Germany, Canada, Venezuela, Israel, Russia, Brazil). After several unsuccessful attempts to achieve the dissolution of the Faculty of Medicine and the establishment of a loyal body for the Soviet regime, on June 10, 1950, the order of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on the establishment of the Riga Medical Institute on the basis of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Latvia was issued. In the academic community and in the medical community, the idea of ​​returning a medical school to the University of Latvia was becoming increasingly realistic. Substantial changes in higher medical education began, breaking up and worsening internal contradictions in the Latvian Academy of Medicine. Democratically-minded and freethinking academic staff gathered around their admirers and on October 22, 1997, they came to the first meeting of the initiative group, which was decided on the restoration of the UL MF. UL MF was renewed on December 29, 1997, but it was officially opened on September 4, 1998, in the Great Hall of the University of Latvia.
