The Faculty of Medicine in Sibiu was founded in 1990. The degree programme of General Medicine was accredited in December 2000 (Act published in M.O. 639/7); the Dental Medicine degree programme has been accredited since August 2005 (Act published in M.O. 766/23). The study programme for Nursing (3 years) has bee accredited as well, while the study programme for Midwifery and Nursing (4 years) has been temporarily authorized to function. Medical education in Târgu Mureș (also spelled as Tîrgu Mureș) began in 1945 as a branch of the Faculty of Medicine of the Bolyai University of Cluj Napoca. On 10 February 1970, the Craiova Faculty of Medicine was founded as part of the University of Craiova. Founded in 1970 as the library of the Faculty of Medicine, it had functioned as a faculty library, within the Library of Central University, Craiova, until 1998. In1998, it became an academic library, by the establishment of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Craiova (June 9th1998). Starting from 1999 and up to 2003, there should be noticed the increase of the amount of specialized staff, up to 11 librarians and a secretary, the reorganization of intern flows of users, by introducing the library pass, the organization of catalogues system for tracing information and also the increase in the technical support (cables, equipment) at the level of the informational requirements and the establishment of Internet connections for library computerization. Starting from 2003, the library has functioned in a new center, a modern informational and communicational space. The Library of UMF, Craiova entered an important process of services modernization and diversification, of the computerized system, by installing the server and 24 PC work stations for users and by acknowledgement of the computerized potential of new technologies, by the organization of the MULTIMEDIA-INTERNET hall, with 12 computers and 14 study seats in the new center. There have been organized rooms for individual study and reading halls with direct access to publications – monographies and periodicals. The process of services modernization and diversification is a continuous one by assuring a space designed for home borrow of documents on a long term, a space for storage and preservation of the documentary patrimony of the library and a new hall with INTERNET access, equipped with 8 PCs and 28 seats for study and reading. The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Craiova, is collaborating with educational and research institutions from Germany, Italy, Denmark, Moldavia, France, Portugal, Turkey and Greece. Additionally, it is a member of A.U.F. (Agence universitaire de la Francophonie), A.M.E.E. (Association for Medical Education in Europe), C.I.D.M.E.F. (Conférence Internationale des Doyens et des Facultés de Médecine d’Expression Française), A.M.S.E. (Association of Medical Schools in Europe) and S.I.D.A.-NET (Réseau d’information francophone sur le Sida). Titu Maiorescu University  acquired its legal personality on 20 September 1990, as a non-profit private higher education institution and became a legal entity of public utility governed by private law, part of the National Education System, on the grounds of Law no. 239 of 23 April 2002, published in Official Journal no. 291 of 30 April 2002. TITU MAIORESCU University is composed of 9 faculties: Psychology, Law (with premises in Bucharest and Tg. Jiu), Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, Human, Social and Political Science, Economic Sciences (with premises in Bucharest and Tg. Jiu) and Computer Science . The Faculty of Medicine, established as part of the University in 1990, was accredited by GD no. 944, published in Official Journal no. 675 of 11 September 2002 in the general medicine specialization, length of study 6 years, with 360 transferable credits, full time. The Faculty of Dental Medicine of Titu Maiorescu University was established in 1990 as part of the Faculty of Medicine. Initially, the Faculty of Medicine of Titu Maiorescu University had two distinct specializations: General Medicine and Dentistry.As of academic year 1993-1994, the dentistry specialization became an independent faculty, functioning under the name the Faculty of Dentistry. In 2005, the authorization and establishment of a second specialization was approved for the Faculty of Medicine, namely that of Medical Care, according to the provisions of Law no. 88/1993 and of GD no. 88 of 10 February 2005, based on CNEAA (National Council of Academic Evaluation and Accreditation) notice no. 2207 of 03.11.2005, a specialization that was subjected to the European Community sectoral regulations for full time education. In 2009, the TMU Senate decided, due to management reasons, to reorganize the medical education of TMU by merging the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dental Medicine, under the name the Faculty of Medicine and Dental Medicine, with 4 specializations: medicine, dental medicine, general medical care and dental technique.
