A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) is an osteopathic medical school in the United States granting the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. Established in 2007, ATSU-SOMA is located at the Mesa, Arizona campus of A.T. Still University. A.T. Still University (ATSU) is the original founding institution of osteopathic healthcare, established in 1892 by Andrew Taylor Still in Kirksville, Missouri. SOMA is accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association(AOA). The campus operates in a portion of a 100,000-square-foot (9,300 m2) building on the 22-acre (89,000 m2) campus of A.T. Still University in Mesa. The campus is the anchor of the Arizona Health & Technology Park, a 132-acre (0.53 km2) education, healthcare, and technology triangle owned by ATSU and Vanguard Health Systems. The master plan for the new park includes hospitals, long-term care facilities, professional offices, and product development research facilities. The curriculum at SOMA is unique in that all of the clinical education is based at one of twelve community health centers throughout the country. SOMA uses the Clinical Presentation Educational Model which teaches that there are about 120 different ways that a patient can present themself to a physician. The teaching method was based on a method developed in 1994 by the University of Calgary. Basic sciences are coupled with clinical sciences so that the students have a more comprehensive and practical foundation for each medical discipline. The curriculum design emphasizes clinical competencies which allows students to enter residency programs with greater experience with chronic disease than students educated in the majority of tertiary care-oriented academic health centers. Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, USA

The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine is a private, non-profit medical school for osteopathic medicine located in the city of Dothan in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is the first osteopathic medical school in the stateand is believed to be the first osteopathic medical school in the nation established by a regional not-for-profit hospital. On April 24, 2017, the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), awarded ACOM full accreditation status. Graduates of the college receive a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (D.O.).The first class began study on 5 August 2013, and graduated on 13 May 2017. By the early 1990s, leaders in Alabama had come to recognize the growing need for primary care physicians within the state. Having recognized the propensity for osteopathic medical graduates to pursue careers in primary care, state leaders established the Alabama Medical Education Consortium (AMEC) in 2005 as a means of attracting third and fourth year medical students to rotations within the state. By 2010, the success of the AMEC pipeline led some to consider the development of Alabama’s own osteopathic medical college. After much deliberation about the location and structure of the school, the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) was established in May 2010 through the partnership of AMEC and the Houston County Healthcare Authority. The mission of ACOM is to provide quality, learner-centered osteopathic education, research, and service with emphasis on patient-centered primary care to serve the medically underserved areas of Alabama and the nation. Like many other medical schools in the United States, ACOM students will take basic science classes in the first two years of medical school, and move on to clinical clerkships during their third and fourth years. Twenty students per year complete rotations at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. The school is currently aiding in the establishment of residency programs in the state of Alabama. The medical school offers two dual degrees: a Master of Science in Management (MSM) Program and a Masters in Business Administration.  Both are offered via Troy University at Dothan. The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) is a comprehensive, four-year osteopathic medical college located in Dothan, Alabama. ACOM, the academic division of the Houston County Health Care Authority, is affiliated with Southeast Alabama Medical Center (SAMC) in Dothan, a 420-bed regional medical center. SAMC serves more than 600,000 residents in a 75-mile radius and has more than 2,500 employees and an active medical staff of 300. ACOM, one of 29 osteopathic colleges in the nation, is the first osteopathic college to open in Alabama and the first osteopathic college in the nation to share a campus with a regional medical center. ACOM’s groundbreaking took place in January 2012, and the 15-month construction project was completed in May 2013. The college celebrated its historic grand opening on July 29, 2013, with more than 1,500 people in attendance to celebrate the event. ACOM’s inaugural class of 162 students began classes on August 5, 2013, and will graduate in 2017. This educational infrastructure continues to expand and now includes over 400 Alabama physicians from communities throughout the state and 47 hospitals that include 15 core teaching sites and 42 educational sites. ACOM received its Private School licensure from the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education in December 2011, and provisional accreditation with the ability to recruit students from the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation on July 1, 2012. ACOM is building a free-standing facility in Dothan. Construction was completed in May 2013, and the college celebrated its historic grand opening on July 29, 2013. ACOM’s inaugural class began classes on August 5, 2013, and will graduate in 2017. Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, USA

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine (“Einstein” for short), a joint entity between Montefiore Medical Center and Yeshiva University (until 2018), is a private, not-for-profit, nonsectarian medical school located in the Morris Park neighborhood of the Bronx in New York City. In addition to M.D. degrees, Einstein offers graduate biomedical degrees through its Sue Golding Graduate Division. Allen M. Spiegel, M.D., has served as the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean since June 1, 2006. Einstein’s areas of focus are medical education, basic research, and clinical research. The school is well known for its humanistic approach to medicine and the diversity of its student body. The class of 2019 includes 183 students from 23 different states. In addition, 18% were born outside the U.S., and 12% identify themselves as belonging to groups considered underrepresented in medicine. Einstein is a major biomedical and clinical research facility. Faculty members received $157 million in research grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2014, ranking 25th of 138 medical schools in the U.S. The N.I.H. funding includes major amounts for research in aging, disorders of intellectual development, diabetes, cancer, liver disease, and AIDS. Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of Yeshiva University, began planning a new medical school as early as 1945. Six years later, Dr. Belkin and New York City Mayor Vincent Impellitterientered into an agreement to begin its construction with funding from Henry H. Minskoff.[4] Around the same time, world-renowned physicist and humanitarian Albert Einstein sent a letter to Dr. Belkin. He remarked that such an endeavor would be “unique” in that the school would “welcome students of all creeds and races”. Two years later, on his 74th birthday, March 14, 1953, Albert Einstein agreed to have his name attached to the medical school. The first classes began September 12, 1955, with 56 students. It was the first new medical school to open in New York City since 1897. The Sue Golding Graduate Division was established in 1957 to offer Ph.D. degrees in biomedical disciplines. The Medical Scientist Training Program, a combined M.D.-Ph.D. program, was started 1964. The Clinical Research Training Program, which confers M.S. degrees in clinical research methods, began in July 1998. The College of Medicine has been the center of several allegations of discrimination. In 1994, Einstein was sued by Heidi Weissmann, a researcher in nuclear medicine and former associate professor of radiology, for sexual discrimination for not promoting her due to gender bias. The case was settled for $900,000. In 1998, Yeshiva University and Einstein were sued by the American Civil Liberties Union for discrimination of two medical students over their sexual orientation by not allowing their non-student, non-married partners to live with them in student housing. In February 2015, Yeshiva University announced the transfer of ownership of Einstein to the Montefiore Health System, in order to eliminate a large deficit from the university’s financial statements. The medical school accounted for approximately two-thirds of the university’s annual operating deficits, which had reached about $100 million before the announcement. On September 9, 2015, the agreement between Yeshiva and Montefiore was finalized, and financial and operational control of Albert Einstein College of Medicine was transferred to Montefiore. Yeshiva University plans to continue to grant Einstein’s degrees until 2018, when Montefiore’s application for its own degree-granting authority is expected to be approved. A study published by researchers at Harvard Medical School and the University of California, San Francisco, which sought to eliminate the subjective metrics present in the U.S. News & World Report rankings, gave Einstein a rank of #13 relative to other medicals schools in the United States, placing it among the top 10 percent. Einstein is currently ranked #35 in research by U.S. News & World Report out of 170 medical schools. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is affiliated with five medical centers: Montefiore Medical Center,  the University Hospital and academic medical center for Einstein; Jacobi Medical Center, Einstein’s founding hospital and first affiliate, and three other hospital systems: North Shore-LIJ Health System on Long Island, Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, and Bronx Lebanon Hospital. Through its affiliation network, Einstein runs the largest postgraduate medical training program in the U.S. Einstein runs the Rose F. Kennedy Center, which conducts research and treatment for people with developmental disabilities.
