Cavendish University Zambia (CUZ) is the first private University in Zambia and was established in 2004. CUZ is registered under the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013 of the Laws of Zambia. Teaching and learning at CUZ are based on a student-centric academic model that deploys innovation and global best practices in its pedagogy, philosophy, operations and organization. Lecturers and Professors at CUZ are trained to facilitate learning in ways that are innovative, student-centric, participatory, active and practical. CUZ deploys a learning management technology platform (CU-LPTM ) that supports blended learning, flipped classrooms, projects, case studies, distance learning, and other forms of effective and active learning. Cavendish University Zambia Library subscribes to over 50,000 journals. They provide Distance Learning platform which provides a flexible, accessible and cost effective mode of learning as an alternative to traditional classroom based learning. This mode of study is suitable for those who have difficulty attending traditional classes for various reasons. It gives one the opportunity to study away from the classroom without interrupting their day to day activities. The new Distance Learning is designed to enhance the student learning experience by providing an online/offline interactive platform.

Copperbelt University School of Medicine, Zambia

Copperbelt University School of Medicine (CUSOM), also known as Copperbelt University Medical School is the school of medicine of Copperbelt University in Zambia. The medical school is the country’s second public medical school, the other being theUniversity of Zambia School of Medicine. The school provides medical education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The school’s campus is located in the city of Ndola, in proximity to Ndola Central Hospital and the Tropical Diseases Research Centre. This is about 2.5 kilometres (2 mi), north-west of the city centre. This public medical school is the first in Zambia to be located outside of Lusaka, the capital city of the county. It is also the first medical school in the country to offer courses in dentistry. The MCS SoM has three departments, namely: Clinical sciences, Basic sciences and dental sciences; offering four undergraduate programs: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine (BSc CM) and postgraduate programs: Master of Science, Master of Medicine and Doctor of Science. In 2014, ground was broken at a 52 hectares (130 acres) site off the Ndola-Kitwe dual carriageway in Ndola, for a medical campus that includes a 500-bed teaching hospital and hostels with a capacity of 1,000 medical students.

University of Zambeia, Zambia

The University of Zambia (UNZA) is a public university located in Lusaka, Zambia. It is Zambia’s largest learning institution. UNZA was established in 1965 and officially opened to the public on 12 July 1966. It is the oldest public university in Zambia. The language of instruction is English. The beginnings of UNZA can be traced back before the Second World War when the idea to set up a University in Northern Rhodesiawas conceived. However, plans to set up a university were halted when the war broke out and only revived after. The colonial government instituted plans to set up a Central African University College, for Africa, due toe the development of higher education institutions in most parts of Africa. The Central Africa council (CAC) appointed a committee to investigate requirements for a college for higher education and, it was recommended that a college for higher education be established. Its main campus, the Great East Road Campus, is on the Great East Road, about 7 km from Lusaka City. It also has the Ridgeway Campus within Lusaka City located at the University Teaching Hospital (famously called UTH ); this campus specifically houses students pursuing medical and pharmacological courses. The University of Zambia has over 157 degree and postgraduate degree programmes. The University of Zambia has a nanotechnology research centre that was founded in 2001. The centre was founded by Elijah Mwansa, who after graduating from the University of Zambia received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and was a professor at University of Heidelberg and Carnegie Mellon University. The centre has several researchers from other African countries and Europe and is the only one of its kind on the African continent. It is financed by the government of Zambia as part of the Zambia 2020 initiative and grants from foreign science foundations. UNZA is a member of the Association of African Universities, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and the International Association of Universities.

University of Zambia School of Medicine, Zambia

The School of Medicine was established in 1965, with its first intake in 1966.It obtained its establishment as an independent School of the University Zambia in 1970. The first output of graduates with full medical qualification was in 1973.Since then, the School has presented over 1 200 medical doctors 1 the award of its joint degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor  Surgery. In 1981 it commenced postgraduate programmes leading to hig degrees in a number of Clinical areas. The Master of Medicine programme is now offered in Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics : Child Health, Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery. A Master of Public Health programme has been offered since the 1994/95 academic year.The School is also responsible for the higher level training and education of nurses and offers a four-year programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. The University of Zambia School of Medicine is Zambia’s first Medical School. It is situated  at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) and The Ridgeway Campus on Nationalist Road within the greater City of Lusaka. Its scope of academic instructional delivery has increased over the years to include not only the MB ChB Program, but also Pharmacy, Nursing Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Physiotherapy, Environmental Health and Public Health. The School of Medicine was established as an independent School of the University of Zambia in 1970. Pre-clinical teaching in Bachelor of science (Human Biology) and Clinical teaching in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, however, had started earlier in 1968. The first output of graduates with full medical qualifications was in 1973. Since then, the School has presented over 1200 medical doctors for the award of its joint degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. The School of Medicine is located at the Ridgeway Campus. The University Teaching Hospital (UTH), a speciality hospital, with a capacity of 1 800 beds is located about half a kilometre away from the Ridgeway Campus.Medical students are accommodated at the Ridgeway Campus and pre-clinical teaching takes place at the same place. The School of Medicine has different departments devoted to a particular academic discipline.
